ICC Cricket Latest News: Naveen-ul-Haq Withdraws as Sri Lanka Prepares to Host West Indies.

Naveen-ul-Haq Out; Sri Lanka Hosts West Indies: ICC latest cricket news

ICC cricket latest news : Naveen-ul-Haq, an Afghanistan player, will not be joining the Hampshire Hawks for their T20 Blast season.

The Hampshire team said that paceman Naveen would not be going because of “unavoidable personal circumstances.”

The 24-year-old was supposed to play in the Hawks’ last six group games. Also, be ready for the September knockout stages.

People think of Naveen as an expert in T20s because he has taken 216 wickets at an average of 24.09 in 179 games.

He has taken more than 50 wickets in three Blast seasons with Leicestershire. He has also played in the IPL, the Pakistan Super League, and the SA20.

Even though the setback happened, Hampshire said they are already in advanced talks to find a replacement foreign player and plan to make an announcement next week.

Hampshire’s first game of the 2024 season is on Thursday, May 30, at the Utilita Bowl, when they play Surrey.

ICC cricket latest news: Sri Lanka to Host West Indies for ODIs and T20Is Ahead of Asia Cup Warm-Up

The ODIs are part of the International Cricket Council’s Women’s Championship. Whereas the T20Is are a warm-up for the Asia Cup.

Fresh off qualification for the Women’s T20 World Cup, Sri Lanka will host West Indies for three ODIs and three T20Is from June 15-28.

Sri Lanka’s main goal for the tour is to get ready for the T20 Asia Cup. It  will also be held in Sri Lanka starting July 20. Furthermore, this will be their second bilateral T20I series this year. In March and April, they had a good tour of South Africa. An Irish tour is also planned for August.

They just got back from a month-long tour of Pakistan. During the tour, they won both the ODI and T20I games. These are their last games against other teams before the World Cup in October.

The last time these two teams played each other in a two-team series was in 2017. West Indies beat Sri Lanka in both T20Is and ODIs. Sri Lanka has lost 18 of the 20 T20Is that West Indies has played against them.

The game has been much closer in ODIs, with West Indies winning 18 and Sri Lanka getting 14.

Sri Lanka comes into this tour having won important series against England, New Zealand, and South Africa in the past year. This could make it a much more competitive match.

The ODI series will take place in Galle from June 15th to 21st.

It is part of the ICC Women’s Championship, which leads to the ODI World Cup in 2025.

Sri Lanka is in eighth place in the Women’s Championship points table, while West Indies is in seventh.

Aside from neighbors India, the top four teams will go straight to the next round.

From June 24 to 28, the Women T20Is will be held in Hambantota.
